A vision on creativity, innovation and dialogue for sustainable development by the culture professionals and artists from Africa, Asia, European Union and Latin America participating to the “Culture for the Future” international Colloquium
Ten years after the International Conference on “Culture and Creativity: vectors for development”, the European Commission organised an international Colloquium "Culture for the Future" under the theme “Creativity, Innovation and Dialogue for Inclusive Development” the 16-17 June 2019 at BOZAR, Brussels. It provided the occasion to gather cultural professionals, artists, policy makers, donors etc. from all regions in the world to participate to sessions on how culture can shape the future and contribute to innovation, dialogue and inclusive development.
400 experts and professionals from around the world gathered in Brussels at the International Colloquium "Culture4Future" to explore how cultural and creative sectors contribute to sustainable development and inclusiveness. The Colloquium was organised by the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development of the European Commission. A manifesto "Culture for the future" was prepared and published to highlight the role of culture in development.
The manifesto includes 10 recommendations for culture for the future to ensure an enhanced commitment by artists, the private sector, civil society, financial institutions, governments, international organisations and donors, including the European Union institutions and the EU Member States.
