1. A general fund for mobility
Fanak Fund manages a Fund for Artistic and Cultural Mobility in the Euro-Arab-speaking-Middle East region and from this region to the rest of the world. Artists and cultural operators living and working in Europe, the Arab-speaking world and the Middle East can apply if a call is open. Priority is given to mobility from the South and East of this region.
Although many countries in the Euro – Arab – Middle East region have adopted international transport restrictions to limit the progress of the Corona pandemic, Fanak Fund and partners hope that these restrictions will be lifted in the next months, allowing artists and cultural operators to travel. Artists and cultural operators living and working in Europe, the Arab speaking countries and the Middle East, who wish to travel from one of these regions to one of the other two are welcome to apply. However, they are advised to submit their travel plan with flexible dates. Priority is given to mobilities from the Arab speaking region to the Middle-East and vice-versa.
2. Consolidation Fund - Zodeh
In the context of international mobility and exchange of artists and cultural operators, Fanak Fund is offering a funding line to consolidate artistic teams in the Middle-East and Arab-speaking countries (including Turkey and Persian countries). This funding line aims at consolidating cultural and artistic organisations and/or artists collectives operating in the Arab-speaking and Middle Eastern geographical zone and developing local projects (venues, networks, platforms).
Deadline for applications: 31st August 2020
Together with partners in Beirut, Duhok, Istanbul and Mytilene, mechanisms were created to support artists forced to exile. These initiatives provide accommodation, a meeting/work place, resources and advice for artists forced to exile. These places are sometimes self-created, sometimes part of an art space that is already running.
Currently four organisations have been chosen by the Expert Committee of Fanak Fund to be partners in the framework of the solidarity programme
- Office of Displaced Designers
- The House of Artists in Domiz Camp, Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan
Funding is provided to the host organisation for a permanent manager, for material and equipment for the artists, or to help renovate the space for work or accommodation. The funding is received on an annual basis.
The beneficiaries of these host organisations, i.e. the artists forced to exile, are chosen by both Fanak and the host organisation. Artists forced to exile can apply to the above mentioned organisations.
