Florian SCHNELL, filmmaker, presents the programme of the week.
Born in 1984 in Lörrach Germany. After graduating from school, Florian Schnell started studying fictional artwork at the University of Hildesheim and did various internships for stage and film. From 2008 to 2015, he was a directing student at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy. Participant of the exchange programme “Hollywood-Workshop” at UCLA in LA. In 2010 he received the award of the best German young director. His short film MIA AND THE MINOTAUR won the best children`s movie at the well known German Filmfestival Goldener Spatz. His graduation film OFFLINE - ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEXT LEVEL? was nominated for the Max Ophüls Preis.

The musicians who took part in MAISHA, representing 10 different nationalities from Africa & Europe, were carefully selected after an open call to which over 300 musicians had applied. During the two weeks of the residency (April 25 – May 9), they co-created music, gave workshops at local music schools and recorded a 12-track album. As part of the MAISHA project, and thanks to partnerships with the European Investment Bank, The Netherlands and Sweden, the Ethiopian National Theatre was itself partially refurbished. More...
